Fit for the Future Webinar Highlights: Systems Thinking for Diversity and Inclusion
On 18 March 2026, the Fit for the Future Erasmus+ project hosted its 1st International Webinar, focusing on systems thinking for diversity and inclusion in the workplace and VET environments.
The webinar brought together professionals, educators, and stakeholders from across Europe to explore practical ways to build more inclusive and sustainable organisations.
Introducing Fit Lab: Tools for Inclusion and Self-Assessment
A key highlight of the webinar was the presentation of the Fit Lab platform, which provides:
- A database of case studies, good practices, and interviews
- A self-assessment tool for evaluating diversity, inclusion, and leadership
These tools support organisations in identifying biases, improving internal practices, and strengthening inclusive decision-making. The self-assessment tool uses structured questions and a scoring system to guide both organisational and personal reflection.
The project addresses challenges such as gender discrimination, cultural bias, and inequality, promoting systems thinking and regenerative leadership as practical solutions.
Why Systems Thinking Matters for Inclusive Workplaces
The webinar highlighted how systems thinking helps organisations understand complexity and improve how they respond to challenges.
Participants explored how to:
- Build inclusive leadership practices
- Raise awareness of unconscious bias
- Develop sustainable and equitable work environments
These approaches support the creation of future-ready VET systems, where diversity is recognised as a strength.
Expert Insights on Leadership and Organisational Resilience
Two keynote speakers shared valuable insights:
- Prof. Liliya Terzieva presented on regenerative leadership and systems thinking in education
- Pablo Gonzalez explained how diversity and inclusion strengthen organisational resilience
Both sessions showed that inclusion improves collaboration, decision-making, and the ability to adapt to change.
Real Practices: Inclusion in Action
The session “Inspiration in Action” presented real examples from organisations.
Speakers Emily Diamandopoulou (Rhyme & Reason) and Irini Iacovidou (Comcy) showed how:
- Digital tools can support flexible and inclusive work
- Organisational systems can build trust and participation
- Inclusive practices must be embedded in daily operations
A key message was clear: inclusion is built through systems, not only policies.
Next Steps for the Fit for the Future Project
The project will continue with the development of training activities on systems thinking and regenerative leadership.
More tools, resources, and events will support organisations in building inclusive and sustainable environments.
