Module 5. Personal Leadership Competences in Complexity

Detailed overview

General description of the unit

This unit explores how individuals can develop personal leadership competences to respond effectively to uncertainty, complexity, diversity and change. While leadership is often associated with formal authority or management roles, this unit approaches leadership as a personal and professional capacity that enables individuals to understand themselves, manage their reactions, communicate constructively and make responsible decisions in challenging situations.

Participants engage with key concepts such as personal leadership, complexity, uncertainty, adaptability, resilience, self-awareness, emotional regulation, inclusive leadership, reflective practice and decision-making in ambiguity. The unit encourages learners to reflect on how their emotions, assumptions, habits, strengths and limitations influence their behaviour under pressure and in situations where there is no single clear solution.

Through guided reflection, peer exchange and practical scenario-based activities, participants explore their own leadership patterns and consider how they can respond more consciously and constructively in professional or group contexts. A strong practice-oriented approach enables learners to connect the module content to their everyday working lives and strengthen leadership behaviours based on responsibility, openness, resilience, inclusion and continuous self-development.

The program is designed for VET learners, adult learners, young professionals, team members, educators, trainers, managers, aspiring leaders and professionals working in organisational or group settings shaped by uncertainty, diversity, change or complex decision-making.
